Bereavement Support

The passing of a loved one can be an emotional time with many not knowing who to turn to. Therefore, Royal Navy Physical Training Branch Association Bereavement Support has been set up, with a dedicated advisor to help either yourself as an RNPTBA member, or your family, who you will leave behind, to prepare for the final journey as you “Cross the Bar”. This can be a challenging period for family members, especially in grief however, by providing this support we hope to easy some of that grief and allow your family to celebrate your life in true PT fashion.

What support do we have in place?

Whether, as a serving member you receive a Service Funeral or as a veteran you receive a Military Funeral, the choice, is generally left up to yourself or your family. But our Bereavement Guide can help you answer many of the questions that might come up at this time.

In addition, If you are a RNPTBA annual subscription paying member you may wish to have the RNPTBA Coffin Pall draped over your coffin, which the family may keep on completion if they wish. And if you or your family wish we will also parade the RNPTBA Standard either in church or chapel during the funeral, if at all possible.

Since introducing this last year, we have provided a drape and paraded the standard for 9 of our members who “Crossed the Bar”. Most importantly the feedback we have received from families is that this has been a real support in celebrating their loved ones as a PTI.
