It’s a great pleasure and privilege for me to welcome you all – competitors, spectators and organisers – most warmly to this evening’s RNPTBA Boxing Night on board HMS NELSON. Tonight we are building on the outstanding success of last year’s event, and hoping for an even more exciting and enjoyable evening of vigorous bouts, excellent catering and lively entertainment.
I would like to thank our generous sponsors of this year’s Boxing Night: Indigo Fitness, Pulse Fitness, Powerblock, Intqual, and the companies under the umbrella of ‘1020 Networking’. Without their very generous funding we would struggle to put the Show on at all, let alone at such a reasonable price – thank you so much for your support. Special thanks go also to the Royal Marines Corps of Drums, who have very kindly agreed to perform for us in their inimitable style; and to the Powder Monkey brewery team who will be manning the bars tonight.
Finally, let me acknowledge the amazing work of the RNPTBA Committee, under the leadership of Commodore Mike Farrage, for organising this event again, LPT Sykes and LPT Payne who have been absolutely indispensable, in personally driving all the detailed arrangements. I’m sure their efforts will all be rewarded with a superb and memorable evening.
